ITIA Competition for Secondary school students of languages including French

Message from the ITIA: 

The ITIA is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year! 

 

To kick off the events planned for the year, the ITIA is holding a translation competition for secondary school students, where the students are asked to translate a short text from French, German, Irish, Italian or Spanish. 

 

In addition to giving our linguists of the future possibly their first taste of translation with this competition, we also hope to increase awareness in the wider community of the ITIA and its members and therefore of the importance of translation and interpreting in everyday life too.

 

While the families of ITIA members may not enter the competition, we would appreciate it if you could pass on the information to any language teachers or to secondary school students you may know.

FTA Waterford

La FTA Waterford va être lancée jeudi prochain. Nous invitons tous les professeurs de français dans la région de Waterford à venir. La soirée comprendra 3 parties: Damien Lonergan – Etwinning; James Browne – L'oral du Leaving cert; Sandrine Pac-Kenny – La question : donner votre opinion. Nous aurons aussi une surpise car après tout c'est le mois de la francophonie en mars en Irlande !

Quiz de la Cork FTA de février 2016

Merci aux 12 équipes qui ont participé au quiz inter-écoles 2016 de la Cork FTA. Les grands gagnants de cette année sont les eleves de l’école Pobalscoil na Trionoide (Youghal) et leurs professeurs Garrett MacSweeney et Catherine Murphy. Félicitations!

Nous n’avons pas pu prendre plus de 48 candidats cette année, mais nous espérons que les écoles qui n’ont pas pu participer pourront s’inscrire l’année prochaine.

Concours chansons francophones

Un message de Nathalie-Zoé Fabert, attachée de coopération pour le français en Irlande. 

As part of the events about the Mois de la Francophonie en Irlande (March 2016), the French Embassy in Ireland organizes a song contest for secondary schools.

You are invited to let your students sing in French and create a video clip. Your students can either sing an existing song in French, create lyrics on an existing melody/song, or create both melody and lyrics!

The theme of the contest is to discover Francophonie through the variety of expressions used in the different countries speaking French all around the world, via this years’ "10 words of the Francophonie" ("Dis-moi dix mots") : from France « chafouin » and « fada», Québec « poudrerie » and « dépanneur », from Belgium « lumerotte » and « dracher », in Switzerland « ristrette » and « vigousse », in Haïti « tap-tap » and in Congo « champagné ».

A Jury of musicians and French speaking persons will select the best 3 songs in each category, and the winner will be chosen by the students during the “Chantons en Français” event, on March 1st 2016.

This musical morning workshop will be animated by French singer and musician Caroline Moreau, at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin. Schools entering the song competition will have the priority to attend this event.

Tous les participants recevront un cartificate de participation et les gagnants recevront un prix.

Il y a 4 catégories:

  1. Meilleur film pour les Junior (1st to 3rd years)
  2. Meilleur film pour les Senior (TY to 6th years)
  3. Le film le plus imaginatif
  4. Le film le plus créatif avec la langue française.

Réunion de la CEO

Elle s’est déroulée le vendredi 30 et samedi 31 octobre à Copenhague.

18 personnes étaient présentes et les pays représentés: la France, l’Espagne, l’Allemagne, la Turquie, la Norvège, la Belgique, les Pays Bas, le Danemark, l’Autriche, l’Islande, la Grèce, Le Royaume Uni et bien sur l’Irlande.

Les thèmes abordés: la situation du français dans les pays impliqués, le congrès de Liège de 2016, le livre blanc, les différents concours.
