This is intended to be a fun evening which will give 1st Year students of French the chance to meet other students and to surprise themselves at how much French they have already learned.
There will be 6 rounds of 6 questions with small spot prizes. The questions (in English and in simple French) will be set by teachers from outside the region and will be sent to the branch in sealed envelopes which will be opened on the evening.

Topics will include: Le sport, la cuisine, chassez l‘intrus, la géographie, l‘histoire, les maths/les chiffres -> 69, les couleurs, les francophones célèbres
The question masters for the evening will be French.
To take part in the quiz completed registration forms should be sent to the branch treasurer, Phil Earley, with the appropriate registration fee. Please note:-
All schools in the catchment area of Carrick-on Shannon FTA branch may enter. However, as places are limited, priority will be given current members of the FTA.
1 team of 4 members per class group may enter (e.g. 3 First Year groups in a school = 3 Teams)
Only teams which have registered on/before 16.00 on Tues May 6th 2014 can take part in the quiz.
Plaques will be awarded to the 3 winning tables. All participants will receive a certificate of participation and a drink during the quiz. No other food or drinks should be brought into the centre.

All students must be sitting at their assigned table at 7pm sharp. Due to space constraints only 4 members per team will be allowed in the centre. No substitutes or supporters should be brought.
The centre will close at 9.15 and each teacher will be responsible for arranging transport for his/her own students. There will be no supervision of the students after 9pm.
The FTA is grateful to Carrick-on-Shannon Community School for allowing us to use its premises. Teachers are asked to ensure that their students behave in an orderly manner at all times and follow all instructions given by the organising committee.

Looking forward to seeing you and your students,
